What is Osteopathy?

osteopathy is a non-invasive, hand-on, drug-free, primary-contact healthcare profession.  Relying on manual therapy techniques, the hand-on, non-invasive and drug-free nature of  osteopathy makes it ideal for treating both acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions,  with a specific focus on problems arising from the spine and its associated structures. It is  considered a primary-contract service, meaning that patients do not need a referral from  their medical doctor when they are in need of care, but instead can seek treatment from a  osteopath as soon as a concern arises. More than 1.2 million Ontarians seek osteopathy  care every year.
In the province of Ontario, after a thorough intake process, history and physical  examination, chiropractors are permitted to provide a diagnosis to the patient regarding  their musculoskeletal problem. osteopathes are also permitted to order (or perform)  x-rays should they be deemed necessary, and in the near future will be able to order  diagnostic ultrasound and laboratory tests. Case management typically involves close  communication with the patient’s medical doctor, and should the need arise for additional  advanced imaging, such as MRI or CT scan be required, it will be ordered.

How Can Dr.Spine's osteopathy Care Help You?

You can expect best osteopathy care, which includes spinal adjustments, neck manipulation, massage therapy and various other techniques for your health.

Low Back Pain
Low back pain (lumbar spine) is one of the world’s leading cause of disability, and it is estimated that approximately 80% of people will experience low back pain at least once in their lifetime. Furthermore, it is estimated that low back pain costs the Canadian healthcare system between $6 and $12 billion per year, and that does not take into account the additional costs associated with losses in worker productivity.
Poor posture, incorrect lifting biomechanics, and home and workplace-related
activities can all contribute to the development of low back pain.
Given the complexity of the musculoskeletal system, low back pain is multifactorial.
It can arise from the joints (bones, discs), soft tissue (fascia, muscles, tendons,
ligaments) and nerves. It can be localized, or it can include pain into the buttocks and legs. Some common causes of low back pain include:
1. Muscle strains
2. Ligament sprains
3. Facet joint dysfunction
4. Sacroiliac joint dysfunction
5. Disc herniation
6. Degenerative disc diseases
7. Degenerative joint disease
8. Lumbar spinal stenosis
9. Spondylolisthesis
10. Ankylosing spondylitis
Depending on the diagnosis, different treatment options are available. Spinal
Manipulative Therapy has shown to be effective in the treatment of low back, in
conjunction with a specialized rehabilitative exercise program.
